Kevin Farrell (1967 to 2011) Kevin was born in New York in 1967. The family moved back to Longford when Kevin was 7 yrs old. He studied in St. Patrick's Teacher Training College in the late eighties and taught for a number of years in various Dublin schools, most notably; Belgard NS, St Dominic's NS, Ballycragh NS (all three in Tallaght), Newcastle NS and St Louises' NS, Ballyfermot. He worked as a freelance sales representative over a six year period for companies such as In Class Educational, ABC Bookshop and Rainbow Education sales and established his own publishing company Learning Horizons in 2003. He was always enthusiastic and positive with people and will always be remembered as the friendly giant with a smile on his face for everyone. One of Kevin's other major passions in life was writing and recording songs and he had been in the Irish charts on a couple of occasions over the years. He played the fiddle and guitar. He had finished recording some new songs in the last year or so and you can listen to them now by visiting: www.myspace.com/bkfarrell . He is sadly missed by his wife Martha, also a primary teacher, with whom he shared 17 years of happy married life. One of his greatest sources of pride were his two sons who were adopted from Russia; Leo, now five and half years old, who was adopted in 2007 and baby Sergei, now nineteen months old who was adopted just ten weeks before Kevin died. |
